The H2020 MAESTRO project is dedicated to improve productivity of metal additive manufacturing. To this end, hybrid manufacturing is one solution adopted in the project. In MAESTRO project, hybrid manufacturing consists in building a DMLS part on a preform made by MIM process (Metal Injection Moulding).
OBE, partner in the project and MIM specialist, printed preforms by FFF process (Fused Filament fabrication). The filament used is in 316L, as the DMLS part will be built with 316L powder. The picture below shows hybrid samples: on the left, the preform is made by FFF, on the right by MIMThe objective with these samples is to characterise the hybrid interface (MIM/ DMLS and FFF/DMLS) for the Alstom demonstrator.
